WIP (Work In Progress) on Wednesday

In alignment with my new commitment to try to blog more often, I’m instituting WIP on Wednesdays.  WIP stands for Work In Progress, and will be my opportunity to share with you all the different Works in Progress that are currently occupying my time.

Since this blog is supposed to be about writing, as well as knitting and spinning (and whatever else), Wednesday WIP’s might be an excerpt of the latest writing project, photos of the project(s) currently on the needles, spinning in progress on the bobbins….and much more.

Without further ado, today’s WIP is:

Third Time’s a Charm

I’m calling it this because all of the yarn going into this scarf has attempted to be (at least) two other projects.

At the end of 2009, I decided that all of my UFO (un-finished objects) were to either be finished or frogged.  So the sweater that I’ve attempted twice (Mr. Greenjeans and EZ’s Bog Jacket) got frogged as did the Gartrelac Scarf.  While I enjoyed doing entrelac, and I loved the Noro Kureyon yarn that was using, somehow the two just weren’t turning into something I was going to love.

Inspired by Jared Flood’s Noro Striped Scarf, I decided to alternately stripe the solid Galway (dark green) with the Noro (self-striping) and came up with this

I don’t know about you, but I simply love it.

Because the scarf is 1×1 ribbing, it looks like stockinette….on BOTH sides

I’m in the process of designing a beret to go with it.  More on that later.

So, what do y’all think?

Love it! The stripy Noro scarf is one of those things I love to make, I’ve already made 3 and still don’t have one for myself. So I guess I get to make at least one more!
